Scattered around Lake Titicaca you'll find chullpas, huge white stone towers up to 10m in height in which the Colla tribe, who dominated the region before the Incas, buried their dead. Some of the most spectacular are at Sillustani, set on a little peninsula in Lake Umayo, 30km northwest of Puno.
